Choreographer and dancer Meagan O'Shea performs her first full-length solo dance-theatre show, Night Stills, in Peterborough on June 12. We are the first stop on her three-city tour that includes performing the work at the Cameron House in Toronto June 19-22, and then at the The New Dance Festival in St. John's Newfoundland in July.

Joining Meagan on Thursday night is local theatre artist Kim Allen as the ninety year-old Maddy Johnston in a piece originally presented in Chi Chi Chicanery Threeatre's Entrapment Escapades. Confined to her bed in a retirement home, Maddy soars with spirit and life-affirming joy. Relishing the past, enjoying the present, and making plans for the future, Maddy reminds us that regardless of outer-imposed restrictions, how we "embrace ourselves" makes us truly powerful!

Meagan O'Shea's Night Stills tells the story of a lonely flower vendor who wanders through the bars each night. She is forever on the periphery, witnessing the intimacies of others, never having her own. Combining dance, physical theatre and text Night Stills creates a world full of fantasy, longing, unrequited love, and ultimately hope.

Night Stills is an in-depth exploration of the character of the flower vendor from O'Shea's earlier success Meet Me at 8, which was performed in Peterborough at the Gordon Best Theatre in 2000 and called "A true stand out experience", by Jonothan Fiddler of the Peterborough Examiner. Meet Me at 8 was also performed at Talullah's Cabaret, Toronto, The SoHo Nightclub, Ottawa, Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, and Festival Five, St. John's.

In the last year Meagan O'Shea's work has been performed from Calgary to St. John's. O'Shea is making a name for herself across the country with her unique blend of character-based movement and poetic storytelling.
