Are you drawing on your personal stories, letters from relatives, and memories to create your next work of performance in dance, theatre or film? If you’d like some outside input, or need some new ideas to help realize your work, this workshop could be for you. Using simple exercises, the workshop will focus on generating material from memory or creating a process for working with letters or stories participants bring.
Lois Brown is currently Artist in Residence with Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal and worked as dramaturge on Peter Trosztmer’s multi-layered dance work EESTI: Myths and Machines, being presented in Public Energy's 2013-14 mainstage season. Thea Patterson is Trosztmer’s long-time collaborator, and worked Assistant to the Creation on EESTI: Myths and Machines.

Workshop on widening the perspective into what makes an instrument - discussion and demonstration
Peter Trosztmer (multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, performer)
and Jeremy Gordaneer (visual artist, sculptor, scenic designer)

Tues, Sept 10, 3pm-6pm
at Artspace, 378 Aylmer St. N.
Admission free, no registration required.
For more information call us at 705-745-1788

Visiting artists Peter Trosztmer and Jeremy Gordaneer will discuss approaches to making instruments out of everyday material and found objects, and demonstrate techniques for generating sound, such as amplification. They will have a variety of electronic devices and soldering equipment to show you how objects can be wired for sound. Peter and Jeremy have created an amplified sculpture, or 'machine', for Peter’s performance Eesti: Myth and Machines taking place at Market Hall Sept 14.

Optional: Bring Your Work. Have you got a sculpture - or machine - of your own that you’d like to generate sound from? Bring it along and we will look at ways to make that happen.

Peter has been performing and creating dance and multidisciplinary work with many of Canada’s leading choreographers since the late 1990s, in Montreal and internationally. Gordaneer divides his time between visual art, working as a painter and sculptor, and theatre where he has worked as a scenic painter, set designer and properties builder since 1999.
