The Pivot Series

SITE-SPECIFIC DANCE, THEATRE & PERFORMANCE WORKS

An outdoor fall performance series to be presented between October 2-18 2020 in Peterborough/Nogojiwanong. The Pivot Series is intended for socially distanced outdoor audiences in response to COVID-19 measures. Public Energy Performing Arts has partnered with the Peterborough ReFrame Film Festival to create a short documentary about the Pivot Series for screening at the 2021 ReFrame festival.

The Pivot Series is inviting artists to re-imagine existing work, or create new work for an outdoor site-specific public setting in Peterborough/Nogojiwanong. Locations include parking lots, parks, park pavilions and many more. Performance works are 15-30 minutes in length.

Things to know before you arrive at a Pivot show. Mainly this: The shows are short! All are between 15 and 30 minutes, so we hope you can put up with a few things, like:
  • COVID-19 procedures:
    • All audience members must supply contact information, either/or email and phone, to facilitate contact tracing. If you booked your ticket online then we already have it.
    • Face covering is mandatory for audiences, staff and volunteers.
    • Please respect physical distancing. We won’t have markings on the ground but we will have volunteers with tape measures! Just kidding but you get the idea.
    • Those identifying as groups can sit or stand together.
  • Seating: There will be limited seating. We have stools and chairs to accommodate about half a crowd of 100. You are welcome to bring a lawn chair.
  • Dress for the weather and the terrain. There are many different grounds in the series, from grass to concrete to pavement, so please wear appropriate footwear. More details on the accessibility of each site are explained on each show’s web page.
  • Washrooms: We can’t guarantee that washrooms will be available. In some places yes, but most no.
  • No food and drink will be provided.
  • No rain dates.
