Rough Cuts Call to Artists
Introducing Rough Cuts, a new program built to get creative work on its feet. Rough Cuts is a super low tech opportunity for local artists to showcase works in progress of any genre. Read from your new novel! Share an excerpt of your new dance piece, monologue, scene, song, poem, or multidisciplinary extravaganza!
The inaugural Rough Cuts happens at The Theatre on King (TTOK) at on October 24th at 7:30pm.
Entry is by lottery, applications due 11:59pm October 1st
Works should be 5-10 mins in length. 5-7 slots will be available depending on length of submissions. One slot is available for an artist from outside the Nogojiwanong/Peterborough region in order to encourage artistic exchange.
To apply to the lottery, send a bio and a one-paragraph piece description (including duration) of what you plan to do to admin@publicenergy.ca. If an online application is not accessible, there is an option to apply by phone to 1-705-745-1788.
The concept for Rough Cuts is low tech, so in most cases there will be no tech time provided. If your piece does require some time in the space and/or very minimal tech, (i.e. dance or circus), we may be able to provide this on a discretionary basis depending on capacity.
Please note that TTOK is a small black box performance space seating approximately 40 people.
While there is no fee for participation, the box office take will be split between artists, with each performance slot receiving an equal share.
