Bad Poetry
Sara Porter
DANCE / THEATRE
An absurdist choreo-literary-logistics exercise in poetic form, Bad Poetry is part lecture-demo, part dance performance, part queer clown turn, and a testament to how loving your own bad poetry can lead to self-acceptance.
“Bad Poetry is a thing of Delight
It’s not Something you should try to Get Right
But if you feel that You’d like to Do It.
I’ve organized something to help you get through it”
Inspired by Tristanne Connolly’s article “Falling in Love with Bad Poetry”, the work is an ode to the absurdity of creative process

Bad Poetry is an upbeat, lo-tech ever-shifting performance about the all the fun to be had in failing. With wordplay, rhetoric, clown, counting, dance & song, the work offers logistics of poetic feet, asserts that dance is not a language, and surprises one at every turn.
