Dancing in the Moghul Courts
Aroha Fine Arts’ riveting new work explores the complexity and beauty of Kathak in its most creative phase, the Moghul era.
It will take you into a 17th century Shah’s palace as you experience this unique blend of North Indian and Persian artistry, performed by 5 Kathak dancers from India: Abha Auti, Mugdha Belwalkar, Sudeshna Maulik, Dhanashree Natu. The performance is choreographed by Anjali Patil, artistic director of Aroha Fine Arts.
Aroha Fine Arts is dedicated to excellence in professional classical Indian dance through training, education, creation, and presentation. Founder and artistic director Anjali Patil is an acclaimed choreographer, dancer and Kathak teacher, who was highlighted in Nartanam, India’s leading dance magazine in 2004 and 2005. Trained by Padmashri Kumudini Lakhia and recipient of a Chalmer’s Award, she has been presented in many esteemed venues and television programs in Canada and India.
