A workshop to open up possibilities for your body and mind.  Using the Japanese dance-theatre practice of Butoh and dance improvisation principles, Fujiwara guides you through dance that transcends form, expanding awareness, agility and movement vocabulary, while cultivating the imagination.

Denise Fujiwara is a recipient of the Toronto Arts Foundation Award for International Achievement in Dance.  Her work as a dance artist has developed over 40 years of intensive practice, performance, choreography and study.  Her mentor in Butoh is Tokyo master, Natsu Nakajima, whose work she performed internationally for 12 years.  Fujiwara practices a Butoh that cultivates curiosity, the imagination, awareness, presence and deeply embodied movement. EUNOIA, a very verbal dance work created using the integrated Voice and Butoh practice developed with Gerry Trentham, was nominated for three Dora Awards.  She leads workshops and master classes across Canada and abroad.  www.fujiwaradance.com
