elsewhere, the latest work from Heidi Strauss and her company, adelheid, features some of Canada’s best dancers – Danielle BaskervilleMiriah BrennanLuke GarwoodMolly JohnsonBrendan Wyatt. Supported by a creation residency with Public Energy, elsewhere takes inspiration from the anthropological concept of ‘affect’ – our human capacity to affect, and be affected. In elsewhere, everyone is simultaneously together and alone; the reeling bodies are guided by a collection of experiences, leaving behind a sensory imprint of all that is changing, vital and fleeting. Strauss and her collaborators, filmmakers Laura Taler and Jeremy Mimnagh, have created a series of films to accompany the work, including the short film elsewhere, to be premiered at Public Energy’s season launch.

WORKSHOP WITH HEIDI STRAUSS AND JEREMY MIMNAGH: FROM LENS TO SCREEN A one day filmmaking intensive for artists, performers and filmmakers interested in collaborative filmmaking. October 11, 2014. Register at admin@publicenergy.ca
