Ode’min Giizis Festival

Ahniin Friends,

Ode’min Giizis is the sixth moon of the Anishinaabe calendar. It marks everything we like about the month of June: the beginning of summer, the longest day of the year, the harvest of the strawberry, and now one of the country’s leading festivals of contemporary Indigenous arts. Highlights of this year’s festival include an original production of Tomson Highway’s latest musical play, a rare visit to Canada by one of Cuba’s greatest traditional music groups, international performance art, the premiere of a new play by one of Canada’s hottest young playwrights, and a smorgasbord of visual art and music.
