Welcome to the Public Energy Performing Arts Rewind Room!

The Public Energy Rewind Room weekly livestream ran from April-June 2020 and showcased full and excerpted performances from Public Energy’s archives. A chance to gather together and enjoy art, the Rewind Room focused entirely on local artists, with the opportunity to donate to support these artists directly.

Each performance livestreamed to YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, and featured on a performance page on the Public Energy website. Following the performance, artists and audience met in a Zoom video chat social to discuss the performance in a virtual post-show reception. (BYO Snacks)

Pigeon – Jenn Cole

Presented by the Public Energy Performing Arts Rewind Room
Thursday Jun 11th, 2020
12:00pm-12:30pm (Includes 20 minute Zoom Room reception)

Jenn Cole presents Pigeon, created for the Emergency #16 Festival in 2008. Music by Greg Frankland and Mike Morritt. Carrier pigeons with broken wings have been known to walk miles home to return with word. Yet my drawers are stuffed with halted attempts at letters – of apology, of romantic intent, of condolences…Carrier Pigeons. Unsent letters. The inarticulable. This piece explores the poetics of all those things we just can’t quite say and revels in human stammering.

Ryan Kerr and Kate Story present their 2019 remount of Snow Day, their hit dance work from the Emergency #11 festival in 2003. Kate and Ryan are probably the most prolific artists working in Peterborough’s independent theatre/dance scene, with so many original works to their credit it is hard to keep score. Their next most recent collaboration with Public Energy was 2017’s hit play-with-song-and-dance, damned be this transmigration.
